EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Despite a premature ending to the season, Evansville Thunderbolts head coach Jeff Bes sees the season as a great success and on Friday reflected on the franchise's improvement, while thanking fans.
"It feels odd sending a message out about the end of a season at this time of year", said Bes. "Ending the season the way we did leaves a lack of closure not only for myself, but for the players and for the fans. We worked very hard this year and were extremely happy with the progress made as an organization. We had a special group of players that believed in each other and felt that we had a team that could contend in the playoffs.”
“We are going to take this time to keep building on our positive momentum. The players, although obviously disappointed in having to end the season early, are determined to come back next season stronger than ever. We plan to have another great season and to continue to raise and develop the standard that was set this season.”
“I want to take this moment to thank everyone who has made this a great season. To the hockey operations staff, thank you for the countless hours of hard work and dedication. These guys work long and hard behind the scenes to help keep things running smoothly.”
“Most of all, I want to thank all of the loyal and passionate fans that came to the Ford Center to cheer our team on. Thank you for welcoming me and all of the players to Evansville with open arms. There were a lot of changes this year, but you put your faith in me and were supportive throughout the entire season. Without you we couldn’t do what we do. We are excited for next season, we will see you all then! Can’t wait.”
