Following a tough weekend against the Peoria Rivermen, the Thunderbolts hit the road once again, heading off to Birmingham tomorrow, and following up after Thanksgiving with games in Peoria and Quad City.

Week In Review:

            The Thunderbolts lost both games this past weekend against the Peoria Rivermen.  Friday's game was a 4-0 loss, while Saturday would be closer, only falling 4-2, with goals from Mark Petaccio and Frank Schumacher.

The Week Ahead:

            The Thunderbolts first head to Birmingham tomorrow night to try to end the Bulls' 9-0 start to the season.  Puck drops at the Pelham Civic Center at 7:30pm CT.  On Friday night the Bolts make their first trip through Illinois, taking on the Peoria Rivermen.  Puck drop at Carver Arena is set for 7:15pm CT.  Concluding the week, the Thunderbolts make their first ever appearance in Moline, Ill., to take on the Quad City Storm.  Puck drop from the TaxSlayer Center is set for 7:10pm CT.  All games can be streamed on SPHL Live, as well as on the Thunderbolts radio network, through MixLr, or the official Thunderbolts app, available on the App Store and Google Play.

Scouting the Opponent:

  • Birmingham Bulls:
    • Record: 9-0-0, 18 Points, 2nd Place
    • Evansville 18-19 Record vs. Bulls: 0-2-0

            Birmingham would power through yet another weekend with three additional wins, defeating Quad City on Thursday, 4-2, followed by a sweep of a home and home series with the Huntsville Havoc, 5-4 in Huntsville on Friday, and 6-2 on home ice on Saturday.

            Austin Vieth led the way last weekend, scoring three combined goals in the two games against Evansville.  Will Smith, Alec Hagaman, and Ralfs Grinbergs picked up a goal and 2 assists each,  while Joseph Widmar tallied three assists.

    • Record: 2-6-1, 5 Points, 9th Place
    • Evansville 18-19 Record vs. Quad City: 0-0-0
    • Leading Goal Scorer: Mitchell Mueller (4 Goals)

            Following their Thursday night game in Birmingham, the Storm faced off against the Pensacola Ice Flyers for two games in Florida over the weekend.  Quad City would lose 2-1 on Friday, but rebound with a 5-1 victory on Saturday night.
