On Thursday, the Thunderbolts and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jeff Bes announced the signing of forward Nic Herringer to a professional tryout (PTO).

Herringer turns pro with Evansville following five seasons of college hockey, concluding recently with his second season at SUNY-Canton, where he played 50 games between 2022-24, scoring 16 goals and 37 points while serving as an alternate captain.  Prior to SUNY-Canton, Herringer played three seasons at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, playing in 35 games between 2019-22.  The Calgary, Alberta native played three seasons of junior hockey in the AJHL, two of those seasons with his hometown team, the Calgary Canucks, and one with the Drayton Valley Thunder.  In 85 AJHL games between 2016-19, Herringer scored 21 goals and 42 points, and in 2018-19 served as an alternate captain for Calgary and was recipient of the AJHL's Sportsmanship Award.
